11 Key Principles to Achieving your Dreams

11 Key Principles to Achieving your Dreams
By Lisa Di Clemente

Most of us who are following our dreams have seen “The Secret”, and although this documentary has a lot of wonderful information to apply, we need tools on a daily basis, we need reminders, we need steps to follow that can keep us on track. Here is a great list of things to do to help you achieve your dreams.

 1. Write it down. This has been the most effective way for me to achieve my dreams, it is the first step in manifestation. Start a journal, not just a spiral bound notebook with a blue cover...make it something special. They make wonderful bound journals for writing now, I found mine at Wal-Mart.

 2. Be specific, and be well rounded. Don't just write about money or love or sex. Divide your dreams into categories to show The Universe you are well-rounded in your desires. Categories might be: Family, Career, Money, Creativity, Friends, Relationships, Health. After you have written down everything, include this saying at the bottom: “This or Something Better.”

 3. Take a deep breath and accept. Tell yourself, “There is plenty of time for my dreams to become a reality. I am grateful for all that I currently have and I am ready to accept more blessings into my life.”

 4. Visualize. Don't just visualize once a day...visualize all day long. Visualizing is not begging. Begging is a negative, visualizing is glorifying your dream and believing in it. Take moments to see, think, feel your dreams in your heart and your mind. Smile when you think about it. See yourself moving forward from that point, always think of another dream...do not fall backward, always think forward.

 5. 5.Ask Stupid Questions. OK, this one sounds weird...but many times we don't know how to get from point A to point B unless we ASK someone. Don't be afraid to talk to people, and ask them how something works. The more people you talk to in life, the more you will learn and the more connections you will have with the Universe. God is not a man on a throne who grants wishes out of the blue, you are approached in subtle ways...through other people, events, music, work, emotions and situations.

 6. Hang out with the people that you emulate. Hunt them down, ask to be an apprentice, take a class, order books, ASK QUESTIONS.

 7. Take action. You will start to get nudges in the direction you want to go. Information might come to you as a brainstorm, a dream, a phone call, an unusual event, running into an old friend...who knows? Just keep your eyes and ears open. Become a seer of opportunities.

 8. Have patience. We live in a material world, a physical plane...so we have to wait for our physical world to catch up with our thoughts and desires. Don't pout, don't get angry, don't get frustrated...keep breathing and believing and listening. Negativity is exactly what slows down your progress. Think of your faith as the gas pedal, and frustration as the brakes.

 9. Have an open mind. Sometimes your gift comes in an unusual package. It's not always what you expect. Even illness can be a gift, spilled milk, an ant infestation...follow each event as a stepping stone to your success.

 10. Acknowledge success. Keep going back to your journal and write down your successes. Write down things you are grateful for. Write down the names of helpful people you have met. Make adjustments to your goals as needed. Sometimes a shiny penny isn't as shiny as you thought once you pick it up.

 11. Celebrate. Once a dream is achieved, do not let it be anti-climatic. Celebrate! Show gratitude! Go back to your journal and circle the dream you wrote down and with a bright marker write down the date it was achieved!
